This is a steel spigot type extension post, which can be manufactured in a range of diameters and up to a maximum height of 1m.
It can be used wherever an existing post is not tall enough to give the correct ground clearance for a road sign. This can often be the case where a new sign needs to be added to an existing post, requiring more ground clearance
Also commonly used where mistakes have been made in order the incorrect length post
